Universities of Leicester Quarter Peal Day 2000 (No 2)

18 March 2000 saw our second quarter peal day of the year, though it started a bit later than planned. The organiser, (yes it was me), decided to go round to the outer ring road to the first tower, unfortunately losing his way and getting lost in the back streets. Having eventually got to a tower, it was realised that this was the wrong church! My excuse is that the map references were wrong. A quick dash to the correct tower, Birstall, lead to a very late start for the quarter.

Syston was then reached slightly late, (everyone successfully getting there though), and by the end of the quarter we were back on schedule for lunch.

After a good lunch, we progressed to Queniborough where a well-struck quarter of Single Oxford Bob Minor was rung. Finally on to Rothley, where we attempted Bourne Surprise Minor. I think end of the day sleepiness helped the downfall of the attempt.

However, a very good day was had by all, with some good ringing and firsts.

Details of the three successful quarters may be found here
