Constitution of the University of Leicester Students' Union Change Ringers Society.

  1. The Society shall be known as 'The University of Leicester Students' Union Change Ringers Society.

  2. Only full members of L.U.S.U. shall be eligible for membership on payment of a subscription.

  3. Associate membership shall be available to persons, other than full members of L.U.S.U. Associate members shall not be entitled to vote, and shall not count as members for the purpose of assessing the Union grant.

  4. The Aims of the Society are as follows:
    1. To improve ringing standards.
    2. To instruct learners in the art of change ringing.
    3. To help provide Sunday service ringing at a local church.

  5. There shall be an Annual General Meeting of the Society. The A.G.M. shall receive a report from the Treasurer on the Society's finances.

  6. The A.G.M. shall be held during the spring term.

  7. The Society's Committee shall be elected at the A.G.M. Voting shall be at the meeting by secret ballot.

  8. The Society's Committee shall consist of
    1. Treasurer,
    2. Ringing Master,
    3. Secretary.

  9. The Committee shall have the right to co-opt up to 3 other members, though if at the next General Meeting a member objects to their election, those in question must submit to a vote by secret ballot, to decide whether their tenure of office should continue.

  10. The quorum at committee meetings shall be half its (the committee's) membership plus one.

  11. The quorum at General Meeting shall be one fifth of the total of full members.

  12. The committee shall have the right to produce official society leaflets and newsletters.

  13. 3 days notice must be given of a General Meeting.
    7 days notice must be given of an A.G.M.
    7 days notice must be given of a constitutional change.
    Nominations for positions on the Committee must be submitted to the Ringing Master.

  14. Past members of the society become honorary life members on graduation. Honorary life members shall not be entitled to vote and shall not count as members for the purpose of assessing the Union Grant.

  15. The constitution of the society shall be amendable by a simple majority of resident members of the Society present at a General Meeting providing that seven days notice of such amendments has been displayed in the students union building and providing that such amendments do not contravene the provisions required by the Students' Union.
